Winter can play havoc with our hair and skin but we don’t need to spend a fortune to solve winter problems. Here’s eight, great natural beauty hacks
Fight the Frizz
Crush and mix half an avocado with two teaspoons of olive oil for a 100 percent natural hair mask. Massage into clean, damp hair. Leave for 15-20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and follow with a natural conditioner and be frizz free.
Oranges for soft skin
Forget expensive scrubs and moisturisers for not so soft elbows or knees. Cut an orange in half and rub over the trouble areas before rinsing off with warm water. It softens the roughest of skin.
Softest lips ever
Winter can mean chapped, rough lips. Apply a layer of a natural lip balm then scrub lips with an old toothbrush to remove any dead skin. You’ll be pout-perfect in no time.
No more dry ends
Treat the ends of dry and damaged hair to a pinch of coconut oil to lock in moisture and tame the dry ends.
Cleanse with Honey
Raw honey is packed with healthy properties. Once a week, switch cleanser for a honey face pack. Apply a coating of raw honey to the face using your fingers and leave for 5-10 minutes so that it can clear any accumulated bacteria, then wash off with warm water. Your skin will look brighter and feel softer.
Raid your kitchen cupboards and mix one part sea salt with two parts olive oil to create an effective body scrub. This DIY cocktail of natural goodness will remove dead skin cells and leave a smoother service at a purse-friendly price.
Instant make up brush clean
Germs and bacteria just love forgotten make up brushes. Clean by using coconut oil. Just melt 2 tbsp of coconut oil in the microwave, swirl your brush in the warmed oil then rinse with warm water and leave to dry. Germs gone. brushes soft and clean!
Finally, we are what we eat. The antioxidants in blueberries help fight off premature ageing. Blueberries are great in porridge, on yogurt or a smoothie so get blueberries onto your menu every day.
